About Me

Hello! I’m Janice Martinez, a dedicated special education teacher with a rich and diverse background in the field of education. My professional journey spans multiple countries and roles, including working in Alaska, supporting educational programs in Germany, and serving as an international student liaison in New Zealand. These experiences have broadened my global perspective and deepened my commitment to inclusive, student-centered learning. I have also taught Japanese language, further enriching my understanding of language acquisition and cultural responsiveness.

I hold a Master’s degree in Learning Design and Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I am currently completing a Master of Education in Special Education, with an anticipated graduation date in Spring 2026. I am an inducted member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, a recognition of my academic excellence and dedication to advancing educational practice.

Originally from a retired military family, I now reside in Alaska with my two wonderful children and our golden doodle. My professional values are rooted in compassion, resilience, and equity. I am passionate about designing accessible, engaging, and effective learning environments for all learners and remain committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of students and the broader educational community.
Teaching Highlights
Empowering Special Education Students and staff
In my latest project, I successfully integrated hands-on experiments with interactive technology to engage students in the wonders of Math. I encouraged students to explore, question, and connect math concepts to their everyday lives by incorporating real-world applications. Witnessing their excitement, curiosity, and newfound confidence reaffirmed my belief in the power of innovative teaching methods to spark a passion for learning.

Additionally, I designed a comprehensive course specifically for special education paraprofessionals, focusing on supporting students with disabilities. This course empowers paraprofessionals with practical strategies and tools to create inclusive and supportive learning environments tailored to the unique needs of students with disabilities. Through this project, I aim to enhance the quality of support provided to these students, fostering their academic and social growth.
